The post stops sinking because it clears the wet layer
When a Blue Springs post settles, the cause is a soft, saturated pocket that will not hold weight. Resetting it at the same depth in the same wet soil just repeats the sink. We over-dig, set the post on a drained crushed-stone base below the soft layer, and pour concrete at 36 inches so the footing rests on ground that can carry it. The run stops leaning because the post stops dropping.
