Room the dog can't leave
Most people fence a Pleasant Hill lot for one reason: the acre or two of room they came out here for, and a dog to fill it. A gate that closes itself, latches above a nose, and leaves no gap at the bottom is what turns that room into containment you don't have to think about. It's the detail the older walk gates out here are missing — and the reason a new one feels solved instead of babysat.
